With a calling to the plants and the Rose lineage in her name from birth, Melissa Rose has walked a long path of coming home to the embodiment of her true nature as a medicine woman and carrier of ancient wisdom.
Weaving between the worlds with the whispers of the plants, she calls forth the remembrance of our divine nature as creator beings embodied in a land of magic and mystery. Her commitment to the awakening of consciousness involves a special calling to nurture and awaken the power of the Divine Feminine, in order to restore balance and union within ourselves and in our world.
It is her great joy and service to cultivate ceremonial spaces of reverence, trust and love where all beings may heal, grow and come back into alignment with their highest potential. She carries medicines of the Earth, sacred song and embodied presence amongst her tools and gifts. Through her work, she shares her passion for listening to the living world and her vision for returning to harmony with the Mother Earth. Her vision holds open the door for our collective remembrance.
Melissa Rose was an imaginative child who could still remember the magic of the Earth and all her seen and unseen inhabitants. But over time, under the influence of a culture that denies magic and ridicules imagination, her perceptive veil thickened.
By her coming of age, she entered a dark inner landscape of mental and emotional turmoil that continued into early adulthood. Her personal journey through mental illness and emotional instability was the calling that drew her to the path of plant medicine by way of simple herbal remedies that became her first plant allies.
In 2015, Melissa Rose was introduced to the entheogenic plant medicine Ayahuasca and received the mysterious calling that her life was meant to take an entirely different direction than what she had been living as an administrative professional. In a wild leap of faith, she set off in search of personal healing and deeper meaning to life.
After traveling Latin America, Melissa Rose landed in Colombia where she made her home base for the next six years, following the medicine path of Yagé/Ayahuasca as held in the living traditions of indigenous tribes of the Putumayo and Amazon. On this path, she grew into her role as a retreat facilitator, offering support as a ceremony assistant, musician and translator for hundreds of indigenous elder-led Ayahuasca ceremonies in both Colombia and the US. This path offered evolving opportunities to expand her knowledge of traditional plant remedies and shamanic healing, as well as to develop her spiritual and practical skills for ceremonial space-holding and supporting people through sensitive medicine journeys.
One of the foundational practices for her growth on the medicine path has been what is known in the Amazon as a 'master plant dieta', in which an initiate enters into committed spiritual practice with a single plant for an extended period of time. Master plants are considered powerful healers and teachers who provide training for spiritual and shamanic mastery. Her master plant dietas held in isolation deep in the jungle, under the guidance of traditional 'maestras', offered profound experiences of healing and growth.
In 2020, Melissa Rose began to feel the pull to return north. The plants were calling her home, and she began to focus on studying and attuning with native North American plants. While modeled on traditional Amazonian master plant dietas, her plant attunements began to evolve their form in response to cultural differences and wisdom shared directly from the plants themselves. As her sensitivity and plant communication skills blossomed, the plants truly began to step forth as her greatest teachers and allies.
Recognizing the importance of a holistic approach to plant medicine, she also dedicated herself to studying western Vitalist Herbalism, learning how to address physical healing in a way that honors in the innate intelligence of the body. Through this study she continued to deepen her understanding of the energetic significance of physical illness and how our healing potential is optimized when imbalances are addressed on all levels of being.
Music and song have also played an important role in her path. As a shy singer in her younger years, the process of opening her voice and finding the courage to share her song became a testament to how the medicines support us in unlocking the divine gifts we carry latent within. Her voice has become one of her greatest tools for offering prayers, moving energies, channeling plant frequencies and connecting with the divine. As a songwriter, many of her songs are received directly from the plants and spirit realm.
